Productivity decreased 5.2 percent in the nonfarm business sector in the third quarter of 2021; unit labor costs increased 9.6 percent (seasonally adjusted annual rates). In manufacturing, productivity decreased 1.8 percent and unit labor costs increased 4.6 percent.HTML | PDF| RSS| Charts


Retail trade productivity increased 7.7 percent in 2020, the largest increase since measurement began in 1987. Wholesale trade productivity rose 3.6 percent, led by growth in nondurable goods industries. Unit labor costs fell in retail trade and increased in wholesale trade.HTML | PDF| RSS| Charts


Labor productivity fell in 13 of 29 service-providing industries in 2020. Output decreased in 21 industries in 2020 while hours worked decreased in 24 industries.HTML | PDF| RSS| Charts
